Age + mileage only explain

of variation in battery health.

The rest depends on how you use your car, including:

+ how you charge and discharge the battery
+ how you store the battery

We believe in transparency.

Electric vehicle batteries degrade about 1.5-2% per year on average, though we have seen batteries degrade as much as 7% per year.Vehicle age and mileage only explain about one third of the variation in battery health. The rest depends on how the battery has been used. So, it's only possible to tell how an electric vehicle will perform in the real world with a Generational electric vehicle battery health assessment.

Battery health over time

Age (months)

For business.

For leasing.

Higher battery health means a higher residual value. An electric vehicle that has been regularly fast charged, charged to 100%, or left parked in the heat will have significantly worse battery health than the same vehicle, with the same mileage, that has had its battery health managed and looked after. With Generational, users are able to understand the impact of their actions, so you can improve usage and share benefits with customers who look after their vehicle batteries. Our product also flags if a battery is in breach of the manufacturer's warranty, helping you to avoid a significant write-down.

For car retailers.

Bring quality electric vehicles into stock, sell them with confidence and reduce the likelihood of customer rejections and returns.

"Providing battery tests for vehicles is a critical offering for any business proclaiming to be an EV specialist. The transparency it provides is extremely reassuring to customers, and having that battery health reading alone is central to attaining about 50% of our sales."

Electric Vehicle Battery Test

Battery
degradation
depends on
how you use
your vehicle.

Things like storage temperature, fast charging, charging to 100% or discharging to 0% all play a role.So it’s worth checking your battery health every few months, and before you buy or sell a car.

Easily test your EV's battery.

Testing your EV battery is really easy and can be done fully digitally. Just sign up and connect your car with the same credentials you use to sign into your car's app. Then you use the car normally for just a few charge cycles, and we will email you our assessment. No expensive hardware, no faff.

We use machine learning algorithms to analyse the performance of your vehicle, normalised to a standard set of operating conditions. You can use our assessment when you sell your car or just to check how it is performing over time.
